New beginnings
I spent over a decade at my last employer. I loved almost every minute, but it was time for a change. A person can change a lot over a decade, and I certainly did.
I grew professionally and personally; my view of the world changed, my political leanings changed, my family changed (and grew), my skillset changed (and grew, hopefully), I gained lots of real work experience, and more importantly— I discovered what I liked, and what I didn’t. And I developed the courage to pursue what I want, and what I believe in.
And thus, this was my first week working for Status.im — it’s a project I really believe in and offers the chance for me to play a small part in trying to change the world for the better. This was also my first week working remotely full time. Over the past decade I’ve probably “WFH” about 2 days per month on average, so this is new to me. I’ll share some of the details another time but I’m excited by what this new mode of working can offer me - giving me the flexibility to achieve my work on my own schedule. I have grand plans to go to the gym, to walk my children to school, to have a doctors appointment, to be in for an Amazon delivery, to do all of the things that are difficult or impossible when you commute and work in an office. And generally, to have the freedom to pursue great things personally and professionally.
